The classical Vedic concept that a planet's influence extends beyond its own house to certain other houses it "looks at" (aspects) — every planet aspects the 7th house from itself, and Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn each carry additional special aspects beyond that.
A house can be significantly influenced (for better or worse) by a planet aspecting it, even if no planet actually sits in that house — this app shows each planet's aspects as "House {from} → House {aspected}", so you can check which houses in your chart are being watched by which planets.
Every planet aspects the 7th house counted from its own position. Mars additionally aspects the 4th and 8th; Jupiter additionally aspects the 5th and 9th; Saturn additionally aspects the 3rd and 10th — all counted forward from the planet's own house.
