Gana Kootaगण
An Ashtakoot factor worth a maximum 6 points — classifies each birth Nakshatra into one of 3 temperament groups (Deva/godly-natured, Manushya/human-natured, Rakshasa/demon-natured) and checks how compatible the couple's temperaments are likely to be.
In practice
A Deva-Rakshasa pairing is traditionally considered the most challenging combination (flagged in this app's doshas list as "Gana Dosh — temperament clash"), while same-Gana or Deva-Manushya/Manushya-Rakshasa pairings score better — this app also shows a "partial clash" grade for intermediate cases rather than only a full pass/fail.
How it's calculated
Each birth Nakshatra maps to one of the 3 Ganas via a fixed classical table; the groom's and bride's Ganas are compared against a compatibility grid, scored out of 6.
