Shadbala (Six-fold Strength)षड्बल
A comprehensive numerical scoring system that measures a planet's total strength by combining six separate classical strength factors into one number — one of the most rigorous ways classical astrology quantifies "how powerful is this planet in this chart," rather than relying on dignity alone.
A planet with high Shadbala tends to deliver its promised results more reliably and strongly than one with low Shadbala, even if both have similar dignity — this app shows the individual components (Sthana Bala, Dig Bala, Naisargika Bala are three of the six shown) plus a Total, Ratio, and plain-language Verdict per planet.
Six components are added together: Sthana Bala (positional strength — sign, Navamsha, exaltation), Dig Bala (directional strength — which house the planet occupies relative to its favored direction), Kala Bala (temporal strength — day/night, month, year), Chesta Bala (motional strength — retrograde/direct speed), Naisargika Bala (a fixed, permanent per-planet baseline), and Drik Bala (aspectual strength — benefic/malefic aspects received). The Ratio compares a planet's total against its classically-required minimum to be considered adequately strong.
