Tithi Gandantaतिथि गंडांत
"Gandanta" means a dangerous junction knot. This warning fires during the final 24 minutes of certain Tithis (numbers 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 — called Purna Tithis) as they transition into the Tithi that follows (numbers 1, 6, 11, 16, 21, 26 — called Nanda Tithis), and again during that following Tithi's own first 24 minutes.
In practice
This junction is traditionally considered a moment of unstable, unpredictable energy — new undertakings are advised against during both the closing 24 minutes of the Purna Tithi and the opening 24 minutes of the Nanda Tithi that follows.
How it's calculated
The toxic window is always exactly 24 minutes (1 Ghati) on either side of the specific Tithi-to-Tithi boundary.
