Chara Dasha (Jaimini)चर दशा

A fundamentally different kind of Dasha system from Vimshottari/Yogini/Ashtottari — instead of periods ruled by planets, Chara Dasha periods are ruled by zodiac SIGNS themselves, following the Jaimini school of astrology rather than the mainstream Parashari school the other three systems belong to.

In practice

Each sign-period's length is itself calculated from the chart (not a universal fixed number like Vimshottari's planet-years), making this system's timing genuinely unique to each individual chart's Jaimini-specific factors.

How it's calculated

The Atmakaraka (see Chara Karakas above) and its house placement anchor the whole sequence; sign-period lengths are computed from a Jaimini-specific counting rule rather than looked up from a fixed table.
