Rohiniरोहिणी

Rohini is the fourth Nakshatra (10°–23°20' Vrishabha), symbolized by a chariot or ox-cart and ruled by Brahma, the creator god. Its Yoni (compatibility animal) is Serpent, its Gana is Manushya, and its Nadi is Antya (Kapha).

In practice

Rohini appears on all three of this app's "good" Muhurat Search activity lists it is eligible for — vehicle purchase, property purchase, and Griha Pravesh (housewarming) — making it one of the most consistently favorable Nakshatras this app's Muhurat Search recognizes. It is not on the "new job" good list.

How it's calculated

Rohini's Visha Ghati begins at the 40th ghati (of 60) — roughly the last third of the Nakshatra's span.

Ruling deity and general temperament are drawn from classical Vedic astrology texts — sources broadly agree Rohini is considered one of the most auspicious Nakshatras, associated with growth, fertility, and beauty, though its mythological backstory (as Chandra's favored wife among the 27 lunar-mansion "wives") is recounted with varying detail across Puranic sources.
Ruling deity and symbol

Rohini is ruled by Brahma, the creator god, reflecting its association with growth and manifestation. Its symbol is a chariot or ox-cart, representing forward movement and the carrying of abundance. Its ruling planet (Nakshatra lord, used in Vimshottari Dasha sequencing) is the Moon.

General temperament

Classical texts consider Rohini one of the most favorable Nakshatras overall, associated with beauty, material comfort, fertility, and steady growth. People with a strong Rohini influence are traditionally described as charming, nurturing, and drawn to building lasting material and family security.

Naming syllables (Muhurta Chintamani)

Per the traditional naming-syllable table this app uses for the Baby Names feature, a child born under Rohini's four Padas is traditionally named starting with "O", "Va", "Vi", or "Vu" respectively.
